Wedding Service Provider Finds “The Perfect Recipe”
Mike Staff had built a very profitable wedding services business and a beautiful website to promote that business, but after 15 years he felt he had done all he knew how to do to maximize the site’s effectiveness.
Targeting the target
He was aware that his target customer, a 27-year-old college educated man or woman, was computer savvy and would look at services like his online before ever picking up the phone to call for more information.
He wanted to make it as easy for them – and as compelling – as possible. In essence: he wanted to improve the chances that they would convert.
Not enough time to “keep up” and run a company, too
A self-described “marketing maniac,” Mike also knew that what applied to online marketing today could very well be obsolete in six months, and he didn’t have time to keep up with everything. He was busy running a company with 26 employees and 50 contractors supplying DJs, photographers and videographers for weddings.
In the summer of 2011 Mike began researching website conversion companies online, liked what he read about Diamond Website Conversion, and gave them a call.
Passion and pricing – an irresistible combination
“After speaking with Carl (Diamond), I felt confident that he knew what he was talking about when it came to internet marketing and website conversion,” said Mike, founder and CEO of Mike Staff Productions in Troy, Michigan. “He was very passionate about website marketing, and I was drawn to that.”
He was also attracted to the way Diamond Website Conversion approached charging clients. “Other consultants wanted a contract,” explained Mike. “Carl, however, said if they didn’t get results for us there would be no reason for us to keep paying them.”
Thus began a relationship where Carl or his wife, Marty Diamond, has a phone conference once a month to identify areas needing improvement and to strategize how to do it.
The “wow” factor
“With every conversation with them I think, ‘Wow, that’s fantastic,’” Mike explained. “They often spot things I never would have seen, and they keep up with everything that’s evolving in internet marketing.”
He also appreciates the ease and professionalism he encounters working with them.
No “nickel-and-diming”
“They are always prepared for our calls, always on time, and I feel that the time we spend together is dedicated just to me,” Mike said. “I never feel rushed. Our agreement is for a set number of hours, but some projects require more time than that, and they have never nickel-and-dimed me about that. That tells me that they care about the success of my company.
“Other companies I’ve dealt with would start adding charges for the 61st minute of a one-hour conference, and it felt like the only investment they had in me was the one hour of consulting.”
Staying top-of-mind
That care extends to times in between phone conferences when Marty or Carl send Mike an article they think would be pertinent to his goals or when a thought occurs to them that they think he would find useful.
“I feel like I’m always on the top of their mind,” Mike said. “I feel like they are vested in my success.”
Results speak for themselves
Among the changes and tweaks to Mike’s site have been making the information on the site more specific, making the site easier to navigate, a better call to action and a more user-friendly contact form.
As a result, in a little over a year visitors to his site increased by 23 percent and leads increased by 25 percent.
Marketers first – internet experts second
Mike sees the Diamonds first as marketers and second as internet experts. “They took a strong marketing foundation and applied it to the digital world,” he noted, “including areas such as social media and online advertising.”
He added: “The Diamonds are fantastic people who are passionate about what they do. They are very knowledgeable and operate with a high level of integrity. They are the perfect recipe of what you want in a consultant.”
