Think of the old saying “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.” If you want to increase conversion rates on your website, you need to figure out how to not only set out buckets of water, but also how to make it so attractive that the horse just has to taste it.

Make it Intuitive and Easy

Your bait, or buckets of water, consists of items, content, or services on your website. Ways to enhance your website and increase conversion rates are to have great design and encourage viewer exploration with easy navigation. Offer a newsletter or registration sign up option. If you are selling items, be sure purchasing is easy with several payment choices. Use a very visible toll-free number for customer service. Ask for feedback and suggest they send their friends a link to your website. Use discounts, give aways and contests. Offer discounts on shipping and have solid return policies clearly stated. Make a tantalizing and irresistible offer to provide additional information upon their request.

Take Note of What the Competition is Doing

Check out the competition; they may be offering better “water” to visitors. Use visible security measures to instill confidence in potential customers that their information will be safe if they provide it to your website. Choose any partner websites or links that you include carefully, for the same reasons.

Use Website Analytics to Gain Insights

Website analytics are available to determine the number of visitors to your website, the pages they viewed, how many of them are first timers, repeat visitors, unique (different) visitors, and the time they spend on each page. You can discover how long they visit, what part of the world they live in, their IP addresses, and if they clicked through on ads or links.
Website conversion optimization is both an art and a science. Getting web analytic facts about how well your website is operating is useful. You want to know what your conversion rates are, so you can make adjustments to your website, to increase your conversion rates.
