Using Great Copy to Get Your Visitors To Buy

Website Copywriting for Conversion When it comes to business on the web, content is king. Having the information that your customers or clients are looking for is the best way to drive traffic to your site and convert your prospects into paying clients or customers when they get there.

Web searchers and buyers tend to look for information before they make a purchase. Having engaging, informative and relevant website copywriting is the best way to increase conversions and turn your visitors into customers.  Here’s some tips to improve your copywriting:

Edit Your Copy

The first step in engaging your visitors with website copywriting is to make sure your writing is error free. Having excessive grammatical and spelling errors in your web copy is not only distracting to the reader, but it makes your site look less authoritative and credible.

Hiring a writer to create and/or edit clean copy for your site is an excellent way to increase traffic to your site and convert readers into buyers.

Web Copy Needs to be Scanable

Make your web copy easy to read. Try to avoid long blocks of text and unbroken paragraphs. Insert pictures, graphics and other multimedia to engage your reader. Use bulleted or numbered lists, when applicable, for example:

  • Shop on double coupon day
  • Bring along a calculator
  • Shop along the perimeter of the store

Engage Your Visitors with Your Copy

It’s not enough to tell your customers about your product or service. Visitor engagement is key. Make your site interactive. People most often purchase wants, not needs online. That means that your web copy should make an emotional appeal. How will this product make their lives better? How will your company increase your customer’s company’s profits? Will this product make the buyer more attractive to women? Will your service make the client better able to earn money or find employment?

Write Compelling Calls to Action

Finally, when planning your website copywriting, you must tell your customer to take action. It’s not enough to sell them on your product, appeal to their emotions and offer information. Your site should motivate them to purchase your product, book an appointment or contact your firm. Make sure to put your contact information on every page. Make it easy for them to buy by providing an easy payment and checkout system.

By creating engaging website copywriting that is concise, error free, easy to read and emotionally compelling, you will engage your visitors, which will result in more sales.

  2. Good stuff!

One thing that wasn’t mentioned explicitly but was implied is that webcopy needs to be focused on the core motivators of the intended reader.

Why did they stop by your website in the first place? If you can answer that, you’re way ahead of the game.

What the site visitor wants to know is more important than what the site owner wants to say. Focus on the visitor’s needs.

I believe I’ve heard you call that “pulling rather than pushing,” your readers, Marty.
