Is Your Social Media Program Delivering the Goods?

Have you jumped on the social media bandwagon only to be disappointed at the failure to generate new leads or conversions? If so, then the problem most likely isn’t with the media; it’s with the method.

Improving conversion with social media isn’t accomplished by waving the magic Twitter wand and suddenly seeing your conversions skyrocket. Rather, it takes an investment of time and effort. To get the results you want, you’ve got to focus on your website, your customers, and your content

Optimization, Leads, Conversions

Increasing your website’s conversion rate means that you’ve got to generate customers.  If you’ve been disappointed in your conversion rates since jumping into social media marketing, take a hard look at your website.

Optimizing your website for conversion is the single most important thing you can do to increase your conversion rates. Take a look at your copy, your calls to action, your navigation, and your brand presentation. Do they clearly direct the reader to take the action you want him to take? On the other hand, will visitors get distracted or lost as they try to navigate through your site?

Social Media Is About Building Relationships

If your goal is improving conversion with social media, then you’ve got to know the rules of engagement. The bottom line for social media is building relationships. People flock to social media venues because they allow them to connect with others like themselves. The last thing they want is to be blasted with ad copy.

Instead, answer questions, discuss issues, and help solve problems. Be available. However, don’t try to work a sales pitch into every conversation. Studies show that customers who encounter a company or product via social media venues are nearly three times more likely to search for that company’s product and are more likely to click through a website they encounter through a paid search. To cash in on those statistics, you have to earn trust and loyalty by being human.

Deliver on Content

For a marketing strategy to be successful at improving conversion with social media, you’ve got to provide fresh, quality content on a regular basis. Keep people coming back by offering them something to look forward to?  Be informative, offer freebies and contests, and give thoughtful opinions on relevant topics.

Great content will not only increase the quantity of leads you generate, but also the quality of those leads.  People who are truly interested in your area of specialty will come to recognize you as an authority and will be more likely to visit your website when they are ready to make a purchase.
